REVIEW Etiracetam is an orally-administered racemic nootropic and antiepilieptic drug of the racetam family. its biologically active enantiomeric form is levetiracetam, the S-enantiomer, which is considerably more active than its R-enantiomer, UCB L-060. Etiracetam is a muscarinic acetylcholine receptor (mAChR) agonist and synaptic vesicle glycoprotein 2A modulator. Use of this compound has been replaced by use of levetiracetam, the S-enantiomer.
