REVIEW

Punicalagin is an ellagitannin, a phenolic compounds, with a alpha and beta form, found in pomegranates. It is the most abundant polyphenol in pomegranetes, and accounts for >50% of the antioxidant activity. Punicalagin is widely used for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), diarrhea, and ulcers. Since it could inhibit lipopolysaccharide -induced inflammation, it may be a potential choice for the treatment of inflammation diseases.
