REVIEW

Ozagrel sodium is an antiplatelet agent and thromboxane A2 (TXA2) synthetase inhibitor. TXA2 acts as a vasoconstrictor and platelet aggregator in brain ischemia. Ozagrel sodium reduces hyperperfusion and cerebral edema by restricting the generation of TXA2 while facilitating the generation of prostacyclin. Due to this mechanism, it has neuroprotective properties and has been shown to be effective for motor recovery in animal models of cerebral ischemia. It is now used for the treatment of acute thrombotic cerebral infarction or disturbance on motor functions.
