REVIEW

Azaphenonxazine as the dihydrochloride salt is a tricyclic antidepressant approved in Russia for the treatment of depression. It was introduced in the late 1960s and is still used today. Azaphenonxazine has been shown to act as a potent inhibitor of serotonin reuptake. In addition to its antidepressant action, Azaphenonxazine has sedative effects as well, indicating antihistamine activity. Other properties such as anticholinergic or antiadrenergic actions are less clear but are likely. Azaphenonxazine is an antidepressant that affects the autonomic nervous system; the drug is especially effective for mild and moderate depressions and a combination of Azaphenonxazine and Thymol is applicable for severe depressions. Azaphenonxazine improves sleep too.
