REVIEW

 Osthol is an O-methylated coumarin, which is an active constituent of Cnidium monnieri, a traditional Chinese medicine used for its anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and anti-lipedemic activities. Pharmacologically , osthol is a calcium channel blocker. Recent studies indicate that osthole also suppresses fatty acid synthase expression in HER2-overexpressing breast cancer cells through modulating Akt/mTOR pathway, which indicates potential as a chemopreventive or chemotherapeutic agent for cancers that overexpress HER2.
