REVIEW Ametryn is an example of a methylthiotriazine herbicide, and is used as a selective pre and post-emergence herbicide for controlling a wide range of annual broadleaf and grass weeds in crops such as sugarcane and pineapple. It is also suitable for use in cotton, citrus, corn, coffee, bananas, as a potato desiccant and as an aquatic herbicide. Ametryn is selectively and systemically absorbed through foliage and roots, inhibiting photosynthesis by targeting photosystem II, where the receptor site for PS II (photosystem II) inhibitors is a protein of the structural PS II complex.
